Has there been a fix for Mac 10.6.4 feta-font missing problem?

• Aug 18, 2010 - 17:11

I just downloaded Musescore and discovered that the notes only show up as empty boxes. After looking back through the forums I saw I wasn't the only one with the problem.

I ran a Terminal to reset the program

here are the results

I'm just wondering if any ground has been made on this problem, because I would love to begin using the program.

No progress has been made because any of the developers can reproduce this problem.
There is no feta font per se in MuseScore. Feta font has been used to create MuseScore font (Mscore1) and this font is included in the binary (mscore).
Do you have more information? Are you running MuseScore as an admin or not ? Are you using a mac ppc or a mac intel ?

I run MuseScore on MacOSX 10.5 on a macbook intel and I can't reproduce. Is anyone using MuseScore on a 10.6 box with success?

Am experiencing exactly the same problem as first described by lukeyd...
Am running 0.9.6.2 on Mac OS X (Previously ran 0.9.5 on Mac OS X)
Problem existed in both 0.9.6.2 and 0.9.5...

MacBook Pro
Mac OS X Version 10.6.4
Intel 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo
4 GB 667Mhz DDR2 SDRAM

System Font Folder shows:
FETTE__.TTF TrueType Font Enabled and Valid
There is no Feta font present/listed on my system...nor Mscore1 font either...

Here's what I get in TERMINAL:

I have the same problem. Trying to run 0.9.6.3 on a Mac 10.6.4. The notes show up as squares. Would love to have a fix for this.

Also tried running 0.9.6.2 and 0.9.6.3 pre-release. Neither one will show the correct font for notes.

I fixed the problem on my computer by eliminating a lot of the fonts I never use. There was either a junk file in the fonts folder or maybe I just had too many. Regardless, now Muse Score displays correctly.

Wish I could narrow it down, but not likely. I removed 836 files from my fonts folder, leaving about 1800 intact. (I do a lot of graphic design, hence the high number of fonts).

The files I removed included all the .pfb, .pfm, .fon, .tmp and .zip files from the Fonts folder thinking that they could be problematic. I also removed a good number of .ttf, .otf, fonts that I simply don't use.

Validating all fonts has worked in the past to solve this problem.

Validated today and all fonts are valid, no problem fonts to erase.

Musescore back to boxes, rendered unusable.

Tried restart etc. Could find some random fonts to delete but seems haphazard.

Love Musescore, thank you very much for your time and efforts!

I have version 1.1... basically I don't believe what you are describing is my problem.

One odd thing: note heads were fine for a moment. And then I imported a midi file. And then it crashed. And then the note heads were messed up. And after validating all fonts, restarting, and downloading 1.1 again and reinstalling, no luck.
