Repeat sign for single line staves

For a staff that has one line, I would like a little more control of how my barlines/repeat signs are set. I would like when I go to edit mode to be able to make the barline larger on either side (up and down, not just down) and move where the dots on the repeats sign are too.
I'm just not a fan of the current way repeat signs are done for one lined staves. (disclaimer, I do not know the correct way). I would like the two dots of the repeat sign to be on either side up and down of the one line. Current way is that both dots are above the single line. Picture attached.
