Hide unusued instruments?

• Nov 5, 2010 - 09:14

Often some instruments are required only in particular sections of the piece, yet when we include it, its stave will show up for the whole piece. This is rather distracting, with many staves of rests.

Is there a way to hide the unused instrument?

Menu "Style | Edit general style...", tab "Score", check box "Hide empty staves".

This does not seem to be described in the handbook; shoudn't it?

Hi ... I'd like to hide the bass clef in a grand staff only in those places where there's no notes in the bass. I tried this recommendation and it hides all but the first line. Is there some way to hide that too? I'm using Musescore 2.0.3 Rev 3c7a69d on Mac Yosemite. Thanks! --b

As Jojo mentions, there is a checkbox in the Style>Score dialogue panel which allows you to choose to hide the first system of an empty staff or not. That checkbox is 'greyed-out' by default, but it will become active once you check the 'Hide Empty Staves' box just above it.
