Changing instrument and key signature

• Oct 3, 2015 - 20:20

I wrote a brass quintet piece using C trumpets. Now I would like to change them to Bb trumpet parts. As I have done several times, I changed instruments and expected the key signature to also change. Not so this time. I then read the help info on the topic and hit ctrl+drag the new key signature to do this. This changed the key but left the original pitches with accidentals now instead of new key and new pitches. What is going on? Thanks!

It is usually very difficult to help without the actual score you are having problems with and steps to reproduce the problem. But in general, changing instrument via Staff Properties should change the key signature. If you tried it another way, that could explain why it didn't work.

Changing key by dragging from the palette does not change pitches, that much is normal. If you had a piece in the key of C, entered a G somewhere, then changed the key to A, that G won't magically turn into a G#. You entered a G, MuseScore keeps it as a G unless you change it.
