Display as printed?

• Dec 29, 2010 - 00:28

I was looking at a forum discussion on creating scores without time signatures or bar lines, which apparently is something a lot of people want but is still only doable by awkward work arounds. It occurred to me that a feature that would help would be a toggle in the score for "Display as printed." If this toggle were on, then whenever the score was brought up, the display on screen would be exactly as it would look when printed, with the "grayed out" invisibles really invisible. This would completely get rid of the bar lines and would also get rid of time signatures which seem to stubbornly hang around (yes you can get rid of some of them but not all of them.) The whenever other people would look on screen at your, say, early music score, it would look more like it ought to and you wouldn't have to explain to people that there are grayed out invisibles that they should ignore.
