Creating Templates?

• Mar 20, 2011 - 20:27

Hi, for the record I have Mac OSX and am using MuseScore 1.0.

I'm having trouble creating templates. I'm creating some basic sheet music that I will be using with my guitar students and would like to save them as templates so I can save some time. I understand that all I have to do is save the file in the Templates folder. Only problem is that I don't have a templates folder. I've read that it's supposed to be under Applications/Musescore.app/content/templates. But, when I click on the musescore app I am not seeing any sub-folders. Am I missing something here?

Thanks,
Pat

Pat,
if you right-click (which is also Ctrl-Click on a Mac) while you have selected MuseScore.app you will see the so called context-menu.
Choose "Show package contents".
Then MuseScore.app will open as a folder (which it cleverly is).
You will see a Contents Folder inside.
Open this folder; you will find more folders inside.
Choose and open the one, called "Resources".
Inside this folder you will find your folder "templates"

MuseScore.app/Contents/Resources/templates/

I suppose MuseScore will eventually use each user's ~/Library/Application Support/ folder. A non-admin user cannot change the application package, and the templates should not be lost every time the program is updated.
