Midi keyboard notes

• Feb 14, 2010 - 18:48

Hello

I just moved from reading Handbook to installing 0.95 for the first time.
First problem: I cannot enter notes through midi keyboard.
The Handbook says it is possible, but not how to do..

I enclose a screendump of my I/O.

Wnidows XP
Midi keyboard: Roland PC200.
Midi adapter: USB Midi Mate
Soundfont: Realfont_2_1.sf2
Soudcard in PC: Soundblaster 128.

In the I/O I tried to change Micrsoft Sound Mapper to Soundblaster PCI, but the result was that both this and API was empty after restart. I I had to revert Musescore to Factory settings to make them visible again.

I have tried the same in 0.96 beta with the same result.

yes, I tried that.

I wonder if it depends on the Roland keyboard. Which midi channel should I choose? Or is it not important.
When I used Musicator I had to direct each midi channel to a specific instrument in a sound module, but in this case I have the sounds in the Realfont on the computer..

Hello

Enclosed screenshots from Musescore of what I consider relevant for my problem, which is unchanged from 095 and 096beta1.

Facts are still:

Windows XP
Midi keyboard: Roland PC200.
Midi adapter: USB Midi Mate
Soundfont: Realfont_2_1.sf2
Soudcard in PC: Soundblaster 128.

And I still have no midi input.

Hope somebody can spot what might be wrong.

The PortMidi preference indicates that your USB interface is detected by MuseScore.
So, try this :
- Plug your interface and switch your keyboard on
- Open MuseScore
- Create a new score
- Select first rest
- Press N
- Press 4
- Press your Midi keyboard

hello lasconic,

YES !!
Frankly I'm cannot figure out what I have done wrong. I was convinced that I had done things in that order previously, but also must admit that it has been pure imagination.

So, now I immediately run into the next problem.
Why can I only hear the sounds in playback mode and in note-entry-mode?
I had expected also to be able to hear the keyboard when not in note-entry-mode. Need it to rehearse and test melody and chords before entering them in the score.

If my keyboard is plugged in, I've selected a note/rest on a staff, and I'm not in Note Entry mode, any notes I play come out of my computer's speakers as well as my keyboard's. Is that not working for you?
