Muted Strings
As a lot of people might want their string section to sound dark and mysterious, I believe that Musescore 4 should add muted strings in their next update! :)

Muted guitar works (but apparently only if you have the MuseSounds guitars), but I would not call that "dark and mysterious" so I assume you are talking about something else?

Yes, bowed strings such as violins and cellos. Mutes are regularly used in orchestral music in particular - most of us have a mute clipped behind the bridge so that it can be applied quickly as required. The sound is very different.

I was hoping 4.3 would include it, but apparently not. :-( There is the promise of 'sound options' added to the 'system text' feature, but, so far, I've found that it only gives me the choice of hard or soft mallets for the timpani.

If you don't have sound flags for e.g. violins (when Muse Sounds are selected, this does not work with soundfonts nor vst's), check the MuseSampler version.
Diagnostics => Muse Sampler => Check Muse Sampler (i have 0.6.1)
