odd system spacing after loading XML

I have loaded a score output in XML by Finale Printmusic. The staves in each system are shown with increasing spacing from each other. The increase in spacing is even greater for the lyrics than for the staves. Can I fix this?

I am using Musescore 0.9.6.3 with Windows Vista.
