Tuplets with odd timing

Hello all, I'm currently fooling around and trying to create an odd tuplet. (A half note plus an eighth note, broken into a sextuplet to be precise.) So far I've only been able to break values that can be written as a single note into tuplets. Is it even possible to do what I've described?

You can make a tuplet like that, except it is not really a tuplet but more of a hemiola. This is because it is comprised of many smaller tuplets. First, divide you half note plus eighth note into 5 eight notes. Second, divide each eighth note into a sextuplet of 6 thirty-second notes. Tie notes that add up to 5 thirty-second notes, or an eighth note tied to a thirty-second note throughout all of the tuplets. It will take some creative ties. Then when you are done you should have a half note and eighth note divided into 6 parts.See the attachment for an example. If you ever need to make a complex tuplet like this just break the entire duration into equal note values, in this case 5 eighth notes. Then divide each of those into the amount of parts you want the whole to have. The rest is just math, 5 parts divided into 6 equals 5 sixths, so tie 5 of your beats in your subtuplet together until you reach the end, and voila a hemiola. Sorry if this is a bit confusing, just look at the attachment to solve your dilemma.

Thanks for the help guys! I've just gotten into composing as of a few months ago, so I don't know all these clever workarounds. (Or all of the terminology for that matter >_<) I appreciate it!
