"Save As" does not work in ubuntu
When I select "Save As" for a new score in ubuntu, it goes through all of the steps, but no file is saved.
And the directory selection does nothing. The save command always saves to my home directory, independent of the directory selected.
If I move the score to the desired directory and open it from there, the changes are saved back to the correct directory.
And I can't seem to create a file with a name that's different from the song title, but that may be cockpit error. I opened a file, made some changes, did a "save as" and the changes got written to the original file. I had to change the song title to get it into a different file.

Which version of MuseScore are you using ? And on which Ubuntu?

Newer versions of musecore won't install, and newer versions of ubuntu have "other problems".

You're working on a 2.5 year old version, almost 3000 commits behind the latest 1.1 release, and posting bugs that have likely already either been reported or fixed. Help will be offered but you are more than a little outside of the support window.

If you don't want to install a newer version of Ubuntu. You can at least install a more recent version of MuseScore. MuseScore 0.9.6 is available for Karmic https://launchpad.net/~mscore-ubuntu/+archive/mscore-stable
Not sure it will solve your problem though...
