Fret diagram improvement
Hi All,
After having checked the nightly build r5516 I did find that there is a very good starting implementation of fret diagrams.
I would volunteer myself in improving that solution. Have some experience in guitar chords (theory and practice) and language areas (English, Italian, Hungarian mainly) and in programming languages (java /xml/, assembler, basic dialects, clipper, etc.).
I am searching actually the team (leader) who is coordinating the implementation of fret diagrams. I would have some idea, but I would like also to avoid boring you by raising questions which you eventually already discussed and closed. I am interested in getting to know the actual state of the question and the plant road map for MuseScore 2.0 in fret diagram field.

Hi, you can post any question here, or on the developer mailing list, or on IRC (#musescore on freenode.net). Discussing implementation details is better on the two lasts but discussing UI etc... is fine here.
You can read some more info in the roadmap. I guess the first step would be to add the missing graphical elements (if any) in the current implementation. Making the link with the chordnames implementation could be done by looking at other software such as TuxGuitar.
If you want to join the development, you will want to compile MuseScore. See http://musescore.org/en/developers-handbook and don't hesitate to ask for help.

Hi,
as a teacher, arranger and guitarist I must say, that I'm missing a lot of symbols. (See my post) Fret diagrams is nice to have, but not as important as the "stringbending"-stuff.
The tab and the notes show u how to finger it, but the articulation shows how to play it.
Best regards
JoCa

There's already a feature request in the issue tracker for the stuff you are requesting.
Maybe it would speed things along a little if you made your thoughts known there?
#15097: Add more styles for bent notes
I must say that I'm delighted to see the beginning of string bending support in MuseScore.
IMO you need to be able to attach the string bend articulations to standard notation guitar staves as well as TAB.

Hi ChurchOrganist,
I try to help...

Sorry, but I disagree. Standard notation try to make aureal phenomenons visible. It doesn't matter if I bend, slide, hammer or pull off for the audience. These things are interchangeable. In Rock u will hear the same lick as in Jazz, but with bending instead of sliding.
But there are ways to show how to play it in standard notation.

Hi JoCa,
I have no objection against your statement articulation being more important than fret diagram (even though in my views bending issue is part of personal style /hard to put into a score/ you acquire playing and listening a lot). Nevertheless I personally can not be any help in implementing the bending items while I feel more proper to do that in fret diagrams. So I will go for that. I guess it is a different team working on bending and articulation, I hope my intent to cooperate in fret diagram will not prevent more urgent issues to be addressed.

Hi lasconic,
Thanks for your reply! Being less practical in IRC (and having also few time to stay there permanently looking for reactions and answer "real time") I will go for the developer list.
