    Insert before/after a measure

    Note: To ensure that inserted measures display correctly, multimeasure rests should be set to off (toggle M).

    To insert a single measure before a measure:

    1. Select a measure in the score;
    2. Press Ins (Mac: Shift+I);
    3. Repeat as required.

    To insert a single measure after a measure:

    • Use a custom shortcut. This can be set up in Preferences (search for "Insert measures after selection…").

    To insert multiple measures before a measure:

    1. Select a measure;
    2. Use one of the following methods:
      • Press Ctrl+Ins (Mac: Shift+Del+I). Fill in the dialog and press OK.
      • Right click on the measure, choose "Before selection", then complete the dialog box and press OK.
      • From the menu bar., select AddMeasuresInsert before selection. Fill in the dialog and press OK.
      • In the Properties panel, click on Insert measures button, set the desired options in the dialog, then press +.

    To insert multiple measures after a measure:

    1. Select a measure in the score;
    2. Use one of the following methods:
      • Right click on the measure, choose "After selection", then complete the dialog box and press OK.
      • From the menu bar, select AddMeasuresInsert after selection. Fill in the dialog and press OK.
      • In the Properties panel, click on Insert measures button, set the desired options in the dialog, then press +.

    To insert measures before the start of score:

    Use one of the following options:

    • From the menu bar select AddMeasuresInsert at start of score.
      1. Fill in "Number of measures to Insert";
      2. Click OK.
    • Use a keyboard shortcut to raise the same dialog (this is available as "Insert measures at start of score…" in Preferences: Shortcuts).
    • Select any measure, and in the Properties panel, click on Insert measures.
      1. Set the desired number, and select "At start of score" from the dropdown list;
      2. Click on +.

    Insert before/after a frame

    To insert a single measure before a selected frame, press Ins (Mac: Shift+I).

    To insert multiple measures before a selected frame, use one of the following:

    • Press Ctrl+Ins (Mac: Shift+Del+I). Then complete the dialog and click OK.
    • From the menu bar select AddMeasuresInsert before selection. Fill in the dialog box and click OK.

    To insert multiple measures after a selected frame:

    1. From the menu bar select AddMeasuresInsert after selection.
    2. Fill in the dialog box;
    3. Click OK.

    Append measures

    To add one or more measures to the end of a score:

    1. Press Alt+Shift+B; or, from the menu, select AddMeasuresInsert at end of score;
    2. Fill in the “Number of measures to insert” field and press OK.

    Alternatively, you can use the Properties panel. Select any measure, click on the Insert measures button; set the desired number, and select "At end of score" from the dropdown list; then press +.

    Removing measures

    Remove selected range

    1. Select a continuous range of one or more measures;
    2. Press Ctrl+Del (Mac: Cmd+Del); or, from the menu, select ToolsRemove selected range.

    Note: In multi-staff scores, measure deletion also removes all corresponding measures in the other staves of the system.

    Remove empty trailing measures

    To automatically remove any blank measures from the end of the score:

    • From the menu, select ToolsRemove empty trailing measures.
