Page layouts

The huge number of hits that arise from a search under "staves per page" or similar suggests that achieving a satisfactory layout of music on each page is a major weak area of Musescore.

I've just returned to the program after a bit of a gap, and I find it just plain irksome that the (incredibly complex) settings that affect page layouts have to apply to the entire score. It would be so much easier if one could grab an individual staff within a system, or a whole system, and drag it up and down to increase or decrease its spacing. (I know the spacers exist to increase individual line spacing, but my problem is usually one of DEcreasing spacing for some staffs and systems.) Take a look at the attached screendump: if I could manipulate individual lines and systems I could easily fit four to every page.

Using Layout>scaling to fit more systems per page is a poor option; it's not the overall size of everything one wants to change, just the vertical distances between items on a single page. Maybe a future version could have a 'graphics' mode, analogous to the note insert mode, in which note and text editing is impossible. But each line and its associated lyrics could be treated as a single, moveable object?
