Rhapsody for Violin and orchestra with percussion by EARL MARTIN

I play violin so it has been fun writing or beginning to write a violin concerto. It will go many revisions but I have a motif here that has meaning for me andI want to see how much can be done with it in a few sittings.I hope to make the work a virtuosic work not just a poem for the ears : so we shall see ! This music literally poured out of me.It shows my very tonal background.I hope to put more black and African drumming rythms and singing styles in my music as I learn about them.Nick Ashford dies this week at the age of 70.My fondest wish is to write music that will bring all lovers of music not just serious classical music into the auditorium.I would love to have blues,country ,rock musians and classical musicians and other cultures at the same concert wouldn't that be something as amazing as the fairly new practice of single instrument recitals for the past almost 200 years! Maybe music will go on this new route of diversity! yo-Yo Ma and many others are tryting of course to save classical music by doing this :but isn't it a good honest idea anyway!
