Loads different scores with no apparent logic

This has been happening for some time now, and I cannot figure out how to reproduce consistently.

v1.1 XP Pro SP3

Sometimes, when I boot MS, different scores appear. For example, I have been working on a piece of music for a number of days, only opening and using that one. It is the last score loaded so it appears on the right-most end of the tabs. When I shut down, I do so after everything is saved, and the program seems to close properly.

However, with no rhyme or reason that I can identify, when I open the program next time, intermittently the score I am working on is not loaded.

In an attempt to see if it was a matter of tabs being hidden (which I have discussed in another thread), I Ctrl-S'd to try and see if more tabs would appear. MS promptly crashed.

I re-booted MS and was asked if I wanted to reload the previous group of scores. I did. The same 3 scores came up, again without the score I have been working on.

This time, when I invoked the save, the program did not crash and all seems okay.

Now, when I go to "Open Recent", the score I am working on is there, but fairly far down the list. This may be the way it is supposed to be, but I mention it in case the list should change with the most recent score moved to the top.

This same sequence has happened a number of times over the last few months.

The crash is also intermittent.
