Rearrangement of files in deeper directories

The MuseScore repo is growing larger and larger, so should files start to be placed in more deep directories?
For example, maybe all import files should be placed together? Or all the edit* files?
I know this is not easy to manage with git, but it will eventually have to be done.
Was this already planned for sometime?
