Bank selection and MIDI device selection

• May 3, 2020 - 12:50

First thank you for the huge improvements of Musescore MIDI output. I am a long time user (I began with version 0.8) and I was waiting this feature for a long. I am currently using Musescore 3 on top of Ubuntu studio.
I have 2 remarks about the mixer :
1°) Musescore is sending the proper notes on the proper channel with the proper instrument (MIDI program) but not the proper program bank. For simple MIDI devices with only one bank, this is not an issue. But with MIDI devices with a lot of banks (typically I am using a KORG KRONOS) this is not comfortable. Either I have to create a bank on Muscore that maps my real device. Or I have to remap my real device. A better solution would to provide a entry field in the mixer to enter the bank number and send the corresponding MIDI event to the MIDI output. Whatever the value is, this is device dependent.
2°) I have a lot of MIDI devices (KORG, ENSONIQ, ...) connected to the same Ubuntu studio, it would be nice to transfer the MIDI output selection from the general I/0 preferences of Musescore to the mixer in order to be able to send each track to a different device.
To solve these 2 issues, I am currently using Rosegarden and JackCtl to remap the banks and the devices.
Of course I am aware that this is a special way of using Musescore, but are other musicians facing similar issues ?
Thanks for your answers.
Gilles
