Musescore Drumline skips snare hits at dynamics below fortessimo

when i playback snare music for the drumline instrumentation it will skip one in 4 snare hits, so if i set it to quarter notes it will go 1-2---4 or ---2-3-4. it doesn't seem to be affected by rhythms or tempo.
