Question regarding the HQ soundfonts versus the original General sf

I read in a feature/review post that the HQ soundfont (released in version 3.1 maybe?) offered improvements for Synth and Strings.

Are those the only improved instruments? I am most curious about the piano (all 3 versions) and brass/woodwinds. I downloaded it but my headphone quality is not that high and I could not discern the difference, but if there is one, then I will use it going forward.
