Raspberry Pi MIDI input with M-Audio Axiom Air 32 Mini

Hi
I'm running PiOS 64-bit on Raspberry Pi.
I have tried connecting my M-Audio keyboard over USB. When I connect it without running any special software the Raspberry Pi hangs (no longer reacts to normal keyboard or mouse input) and a reboot is needed.
After some searching on the Internet, I found a possible solution using Jack controller. Installing and running this software did not solve the problem. Thus, I tried installing qsynth. This made it possible to connect the M-Audio without it freezing the system.
At first, Jack did not install due to ALSO-SSO missing. Repairing that was easy.
The problem is that I can't figure out how to setup these softwares in order to allow MIDI keyboard input.
Basically, I want to be able to input notes (and use the patch buttons) of my M-Audio and still use the Soundfonts I installed in Musescore. I simply don't find any documentation on JACK and QSYNTH in combination with Musescore for my specific situation. Nor do I find another combination of software for this problem.

Musescore is version 3.6.2. Both Jack controller and QSynth are latest versions.

For the record: the same problem occurs when using a Korg Microkey 37 mk II

If you can provide me a simple instruction walkthrough, you have my eternal gratitude.
