MuseScore v4.0 - Request 01: Select beam control points via left/right arrows

• Apr 2, 2022 - 23:41

After selecting a beam in MuseScore 3.6.2 pressing the left and right arrow results in the selection of the middle control point. Furthermore in 3.6.2 any addition left or right keystrokes have no effect—the center control point remains selected.

In this state, wouldn't it make more sense if a left arrow keystoke selected the left control point, and a right arrow keystoke selected the right control point.

I’d think if the once ANY control point is selected arrow keystrokes would select the next control point until the last control point in that direction is selected.

And while we're on the topic when there's no beam selected, and the user clicks any control point, up and down arrow keystrokes change the stem height independent of the beam angle. And I have to ask, how often is that the intended goal?? That's a thing?

If it were the likely goal 50.1% I'd concede that the current behavior is reasonable. But in my workflow I find 0.0% frequency in the intention to change the stem height independent of the beam height or beam angle.

To click and immediately adjust the full beam height one must be avoided any of the control points ... and carefully click only the spans between points. Else independent stem lengthening occurs.
