Custom vibrato / guitar vibrato speed and amount - possible?

Is there a way to customize the guitar vibrato and guitar vibrato wide playback effect?
I assume it is being achieved by use of the MIDI pitch bend(?), similar to the guitar bends, but I cannot find a direct way to edit the speed or amount of vibrato. Is this possible?
Similarly, I might also like to create my own custom palette items for this.
