MuseScore 4: Multiple monitors with different scaling causes crash with detached (Mixer) window

• Dec 26, 2022 - 21:34

Verified on:

STABLE:
OS: Windows 10 Version 2009, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.0-223472200, revision: 5485621
NIGHTLY:
OS: Windows 10 Version 2009, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.0-223600304, revision: 23aa113

To reproduce:

  • Two monitors are needed, each with a different scaling*) factor.
  • Open MuseScore on the main monitor.
  • Create a new score or open an existing one, the score itself does not matter.
  • Detach the Mixer window from MuseScore and move it to the second monitor.

Expected:
Mixer scales but window aspect ratio stays the same.

Observed:
- Mixer seems to scale but window with gets extremely large.
- Moving the Mixer window back and forth from main monitor to the second monitor constantly increases the Mixers window width until eventually MuseScore crashes.

*) Scaling, not necessarily resolution. I did not try anything related to resolution. The monitors have a different resolution though.
