re MS4: Is there a way to alter the width of Sidebars and undocked panels?

I'm unable to alter the sidebar width in MS4—a regression from MS3. Interestingly this limitation exists even though hovering the Sidebar's the inner edge evokes display of a resize arrow.

There's a similar behavior with undocked panels in MS4. Once I've removed a panel from the sidebar I see a resize arrow when hovering the right or left edge. But nothing occurs on left or right drag. I prefer the behaviors in MS3.

In contrastto the fixed width I can hover the bottom edge and resize vertically.

Is there currently a way in MS4 to change the width of Sidebars and undocked panels?

One more fine point. I can get the diagonal resize arrow if I hover the exact right pixel in the lower right of a detached panel. When all this is sorted out it would be good to have a reasonably larger corner hotspot.
