Score keeps dropping in and out

I've done my first score on 4.0 and the playback was fine. I just finished my second score, and the playback keeps dropping in and out, and theres a noise that sounds like static. A friend thought it might be the driver , and suggested I reload it.
Would I lose any of my work. Thanks.
