Missing ornaments in MIDI import

• Jul 30, 2023 - 19:32

Hello everyone (greetings to the developpers for the MuseScore 4 features)
I've got two strange behaviors while importing this file "oot_gerudo.mid" in both 3.6 and 4.1 versions of MuseScore.

After listening it in Windows Media Player and importing it in MuseScore (then re-exporting it to MIDI, to check that the reexported file matched the score), I've notcied that after MuseScore's conversion :

  • Some notes (or appogiaturas) are missing, for example in measure 17 or 19 in the top guitar part

  • The "Acoustic Bass" is considered by MuseScore as a Counterbass and it sounds like the strings are bowed in MuseScore and after reexporting file to MIDI, when they sounds plucked while playing the original MIDI in Windows Media Player)
EDIT : This point is resolved : When I open the file with "File -> Open" I access the Midi import option, so I can pick the right instrument (the name of the instrument in the midi file is Acoustic Bass but MuseScore seems to look only the midi channel to infer the several possible MuseScore instruments and picks one by default

I've not tried to reverse-engineer the MIDI with any other software.
And I don't know if one or both of those problems are accurate for opening an issue. EDIT : Maybe I will open an issue for the first problem only

If someone has explanations, they are welcome !
