Inconsistent MIDI input

I posted earlier that my MIDI input was inconsistent/failed to perform. I have since discovered that the "Preferences I/O" check revealed that the output from the MIDI was not activated - even though I had set the preferences that way and the software performed well before. Easily solved and thanks to help from Daniel.

I now discover that I (twice) I started a new score and not only were MIDI IN and MIDI OUT NOT activated, but MuseScore - while showing the proper drop down menu to activate - REFUSED to accept it at all. After shutting down and rebooting MuseScore for the first score it ALLOWED the activation in Preferences. When rebooting for the second score, it showed MIDI already fully enabled. Thus, there are sporadic errors.

Since I had set the program to accept MIDI IN and OUT as default, this may well be a bug that prevents the software to open correctly.

Am I alone with this issue?
