input mode volume v. playback mode volume

I know I'm not the only one that's noticed a marked difference in volume when entering notes and when playing a score. To reproduce the problem, create a new score > Create from template > General > Grand Staff > Done, then enter a short melody, exit input mode, then Play.

I know I can use the Mixer to adjust playback volume. I write a lot of short pieces and it's an annoyance to have to make this adjustment every time.

Is there a setting to have input and playback use the same volume levels?

Or, is there a way to save Mixer adjustments so that they apply to all scores? Or at least apply to new scores?
