Importing an xml file and having the same preferences applied

I import xml files often so that I can transpose them. I find it cumbersome though as every file I import must have the margins, page size, scaling, and other format settings found in "Style" and "Page Settings" adjusted.

There must be a way to ensure that all imported xml files will have my desired settings applied without having to go into those menus each time to adjust them. I sometimes find that after working on a sheet for some time it turns out the page was set to landscape not portrait which meant I then had to adjust my piece to fit properly.

Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
