Multi-Midi Note Input During Playback

• Jul 8, 2024 - 15:47

Taking the UX of composing in Musescore to the next level, it would be great if the following method of note input were possible:

Prerequisites

  • one or more MIDI keyboards

Note-Input Workflow

  1. create a new score
  2. enable metronome
  3. configure one stave per MIDI keyboard
  4. start playback
  5. during playback, play the MIDI keyboards. The notes being played on the keyboards should appear in almost real-time on the corresponding staves.
  6. change stave-MIDI-keyboard configuration
  7. select bar to add notes
  8. jump to step 4

Also, it when not in note-input mode, playing the MIDI keyboards should simply play the music using the soundfonts of the corresponding staves.

I know this would be a lot of work to implement, and I don't have the skill to build it.
But given that the Musescore team has managed to develop as big, awesome and innovative project as MuseSounds, I thought this might be another feasible innovation.
