Converting PDF Files to .mscz

When I convert a music piece from PDF to .mscz, MuseScore does not play it correctly. It says that my file came from an older version of MuseScore and will not sound good due to changes in the app. This is absolutely annoying as I have to rely on audio to learn my part on a new piece.
