Midi import default instrument

Hi, hoping someone can help with this.
I work a lot with type 1 midi files of multiple tracks with no General Midi preset assignment and regularly create string scores from these.
If I import a type 1 midi file into Sibelius it simply represents the separate tracks in the midi as separate instrument parts in the score with a default treble clef on each.
If I do the same in Musescore it represents them as two handed piano parts, prefacing each of the track names with the word "piano".
The user handbook states: "MIDI import panel not currently implemented, making this section largely moot".
The midi I use is generated in Studio One which doesn't use General Midi.
Does anyone know of a way to change the way Musescore handles imported non GM midi files?
