Ties while in entry mode

I understand that invoking the tie while in entry mode produces a tie to a note of identical time value.

However, I think it would be a good feature to have this result only if the following note/space is a rest or a note of a different pitch,.

However, if the following note is of the same pitch, the tie should then only tie to the existing note, not change that note's time value.
This would be very useful when one was editing a previously notated phrase and wanted to change a part of the timing within an existing tied phrase.
