checkpoints to guard against corruptions

Has anyone discussed making musescore save checkpoint files? especially when working on the nightly build.
It would be great if every so often it would save another snapshot as if doing a save-as into a unique name (current file name + incrementing counter).

With a feature such as that it would be a lot easier to both file meaningful bug reports and also aid in recovering lost work.

Does anyone else feel the same way?
