General UI issues and features

• Dec 26, 2011 - 12:27

As a prelude to opening an item in the issue tracker, I am posting this thread here so all have a chance to contribute.

It is probably too late for any of this to be implemented in version 2.0, as I think feature freeze has been in place for at least a month now.

I will kick off with this one, in a new comment to keep things separate :)

One of the major annoyances for me in MuseScore is the way the layout shifts whilst editing the score.

Sometimes this can be triggered by merely adding an accidental, and I have often had the situation where the following edit moves the bar back again.

The most annoying aspect of this behaviour is when you are editing the last bar of the last line of a page - adding an accidental sends the bar shooting up to the top of the next page, thus requiring you to scroll to its new position, whereupon the next edit sends it back to the end of the previous page, thus requiring another scrolling session!

I think the most effective way of dealing with this is for MuseScore to auto-scroll to the position of the bar you are editing. That way you are not continually having to fiddle with scrolling while your musical idea goes cold i your head!
