Musecore 3.0
I have noticed that Musescore takes a very long time to open, but once I'm in it works fast again.
Also, I cannot add new instruments. When I go to EDIT and click on INSTRUMENT everything freezes and no instrument panel pops up. If I push ESCAPE I can use and work on the music but cannot add another instrument.
Please help.

Are you using MDL? This is known to cause a long startup time, due to having to load a huge soundfont

Yes Jojo it is installed but I have a blank MDL track in my composition. I cannot delete it as I cannot access the instruments

Switch another workspace (non MDL: Basic or Advanced) and try again.

If you're on windows, when a window doesn't show on screen do the following:
Open the window
put the point near the middle of the screen
press alt+ space bar (at the same time)
press m
press an arrow
move the mouse and the window should appear and follow the mouse until you click
Hmm, maybe that dialog shows outside the current screen, did you have a 2nd screen attached, but not currently? Maybe check https://musescore.org/en/node/287862 and the plugin at https://musescore.org/en/project/reset-dialog-positions

Thanks, Jojo and Mike. I went to the synthesizer and found MDL sfz instruments in the Zerberus tab.
I deleted them using the delete button. When they were gone I came out of Musescore and shut computer down and restarted - The problem remains.
I did see other buttons on the synthesizer like Load from score; Set to default; Save to score and load default. Maybe I needed to use one of these options.
Jojo, you could be on to something. I had three monitors but one is faulty so I unplugged it and only have two working now. Any more ideas guys?

That MDL soundfont is responsible for the slow startup, no more
The invisible dialog is 99% due to your previous multi-monitor setup, so check that howto and plugin

I found the fonts in Zerberus and deleted them but they keep returning there on their own. Is there more I need do after deleting?

In help->Resources there should be an Uninstall button that will remove MDL (unless you use an older 2.x version).

Thanks, Mike. Jojo, you were right. It was the font that caused the lengthy opening time. I finally managed to remove the MDL sound fonts - problem solved - lightening fast opening.
Thank you, Jojo and Mike, for your help, much appreciated and keep up the great work.

BTW, to answer your question for future reference - adding or removing soundfonts only affects the current session. If you want the change to stick, use the Set as Default button.
