Is there a way to move notes around to wherever I want them?
I'm working on my own notation system, which involves putting notes on both the right and left side of the stem. I need a way to do this in a software. Is there a way in Musescore that I can add as many notes as I want around a stem and arrange them how I want?

Select a note (click it) use Inspector (mirror head).

This seems to only move the notehead itself to the left or right. I want to have two noteheads next to each other.

So you need 2, one on the 'normal' side and one flipped to the other. So yes, this is possible
Musescore will automatically place note heads on opposite sides of the stem for notes a 1/2 step apart of the same duration in the same beat.

For other note heads use -- view > inspector > mirror head.
You can also use edit element and arrow keys to move the note head.
