Normal Cursor and Drum Cursor
In Note Entry mode when working on a Drum Set, I'm sure you'll know the arrow points upwards (instead of pointing at "11 o'Clock") and there doesn't appear to be a way to correct it (if you were working on another instrument).
Can someone explain it?

In Note entry mode the arrow does point straight up instead of at an angle do indicate that you are in note entry mode.
Could you describe what the problem is? See http://musescore.org/en/handbook/how-report-bug-or-ask-support

It points upwards in drum mode, but if I want to make changes to the piano, it remains that way.
Normally if it's a score with no drums, the cursor is the normal angled way.
I find the changing cursor a bit distracting and I'm not fond of the upward one generally (I don't know if there was a reason for selecting this). Can it be the angled one permanently?

The arrow points up even for scores without drums (maybe you didn't notice before).
Notation for drums is a little tricky. To get out of drum notation you need to do the same thing you did to get into drum mode, i.e. Start in normal mode (or leave note entry mode), Select a note or rest on the staff you want to edit (in this case you want to edit the piano staff). Press "N" to start note entry.

I tried it and yes, it does indeed point up.
I hadn't noticed - had it definitely been doing that in all versions before?

It did in version 0.9.5 and later. Probably earlier versions too but I didn't check.
