crash when insert vertical frame
Hi,
First, I'd like to thank you all for a wonderful product. It has exceeded my expectations.
Now, here's the bug:
When I try to insert a vertical frame Musescore crashes with a request to send information to Microsoft. I have reproduced this three times on my PC.
Procedure:
1) Select measure by getting blue box to appear around it. The measures that I selected was measure 7 which was the first one in the staff (all the way to the left).
2) Use "Create/Measure" . Choose "Insert Vertical frame".
3) After a few seconds musecore crashes with the message of sending information to microsoft.
Details:
1) Using musescore version 1.0, revision 3996
2) Using Windows XP (home version). All patches applied as of 2011Mar01.
3) I've attached the file that gave me the problem. ( Please excuse it's rough state! )
This is NOT a show stopper bug for me. For now, I can live with it. But maybe for someone else it will be a showstopper...
Thanks again for a very nice product.
Sincerely, barry

I don't know if it's the cause of the crash but what would you expect for the slur that spans between measure 6 and 7 if you put a vertical frame between these two measures ?

Hi lasconic,
I may be wrong here.... but I thought that the vertical frame only did a vertical separation of the bars of music. Some of the notes in the treble clef were running into previous notes in the bass clef. I just wanted to make the music a little clearer.
Thanks for taking the time to look at this. It is very much appreciated.
Sincerely, barry p

FWIW, vertical frames aren't the only way to add space between staves, and probably not the bets way if that's all you are trying to do (eg, you aren't trying to add text in that space). Instead, you want a "spacer": http://musescore.org/en/handbook/break-or-spacer. I just tried and had no problems using the spacer to increase the distance between those two staves.

Thanks Marc for the suggestion! I (erroneously) thought that frames and the "spacer" were the same thing. I guess it's time to go through the documentation more carefully. I'll try this later tonight (when at home).
Thanks to all for your most considerate help!
i fixed this in rev. 4093 (trunk)

Thanks so much for your quick response and also thanks for having fixed this earlier. (Apologies that I did not notice that the bug was fixed in 4093).
Most sincerely, BarryP
