Chemnitz Concerting score

• Nov 29, 2014 - 01:24

I'm trying to create a score template for the Chemnitzer Concertina. A blank score is attached along with an actual notated piece.

To improve the process, I'm developing a Chemnitzer Font so when I do Capital C, it gives me the tablature for C Major.

The score consists of one notational staff for the melody line. The actual button numbers are part of the score. Right had button numbers appear above the staff. Left hand below. At the bottom are two lines in which the chord name is displayed.

If I can at least get a blank staff that I can enter text (button numbers) above and below the staff and in the chord name space, I think I could take it the rest of the way.

Thoughts? Do I need to learn xml?

I would go for something like the attached. You can enter the chord symbol with selecting a note and Ctrl+K

How I did it.

  1. Start from a classical guitar
  2. Add a tablature staff to it (not linked) from the instrument dialog (press i)
  3. Right click the tablature staff and change settings to not display clef, change the number of line to two and change the line distance a bit
  4. In style -> general -> chord symbols, change the vertical position of chord symbols so they fit between the lines.
  5. In style -> text -> chord symbols change the font to bold, choose a "sans" font like FreeSans, adjust the size
  6. In staff properties, switch intrument to concertina to get the right range and transposition

So that will make the staff work. For the little numbers below the staff, you could use lyrics (Ctrl+L) for the top ones, staff text?

Dear Lasconic,

What an incredible response! You just ended two months of frustration trying to find a program that could do this. Your instructions and sample score were terrific.

It is now set up with Control T for the numbers above the staff (right hand), Control K for chords below the staff and Control L for the Chord letter at the bottom. "Just like Downtown," as a friend used to say.
