Adding accent to chord played at a rest
Using a single staff lead sheet format which uses chord symbols to indicate the chords, I found no way to place an accent on a rest. If there is no way to do this, this would be a nice addition as there are often times when you might want a chord accented when there is no note indicated, when played outside of MuseScore. This lead sheet format is what all fake books are based on.

You can't attach an accent to a rest via Articulations & Ornaments. But if you choose Create -> Symbols instead, you can drag an accent anywhere you wish.

In performance, how would you perform an accented rest?

You would play the chord with no melody note. Again, this applies to a lead sheet or fakebook style presentation where you do not see the actual notes of the chord; all you see is the rest and a chord symbol.

I've never seen that. In my experience, a chord over a rest implies that the rest point-in-time is the basis of the time/rhythm for that chord. I use slurs for pushes.Thanks,

Thanks for solution. Although I would say that "anywhere' should be rephrased to read "anywhere proper." At first, I could not make the accent stick as I was trying somewhat above the staff. Once I lowered it to its proper place, barely above the staff, then it stayed! Thanks again..........Don

Don, you're right that there are constraints on where you can drop the symbol when you're dragging it from the pop-up grid to the score.
Once it drops and sticks, though, you can reposition it at will by (1) clicking and dragging it, or (2) double-clicking it and using the arrow keys to move it.
