Mini note as anchor sign
I want to use mini notes with parentheses to give for instance a place where
a Right Hand anchor finger can be placed on a (guitar)string
(see the attachment where the a is used).
Because they are not part of a measure I cannot use a regular note within brackets.
Is there a possibility to do this sort of thing in MuseScore?

See Grace note

lasconic, with all respect, I do not understand how to use
a grace note in this matter. Can you be more specific please?

Indeed. Sorry. I read your post a little bit to quickly.
The best way to obtain the A note between parenthesis is to do it manually with the Z palette.
Press Z, and you will be able to drag and drop a notehead and two parenthesis. Unfortunatly I can't think of making it smaller.

Thank you lasconic!! Yes, although it is not a mini note, it fulfils
exactly the purpose! I was not aware of a ‘Z palette’. Is it somewhere
mentioned in the handbook?
Anyway, thanks again! I am beginning to like this software more and more!!
Joe.

Joe, you could get a small anchor note between small parentheses as follows:
1. Drag a grace note from the Grace Notes Palette to the note following where you want the anchor note;
2. Position the grace note you just created on the desired line or space;
3. Right-click on the grace note, go to Note Properties..., and then check the boxes for both Small and Stemless; and
4. Drag your parentheses from the "Z Palette" to the grace note.

Stevebob, thanks for your explanation. That is the way I will do it. I asked lasconic about
this 'Z-palette'. Where can I find this in the handbook because it looks like a kind of summary of
all the palettes.
Joe.
