Placing notes precisely where needed
I'm trying to write a Bb Trumpet intro figure in the key of C. The time signature is 4/4. My first measure is written correctly. However, in attempting to write the notes of the 2nd measure, I cannot seem to place the notes where they're needed within the measure. The 2nd measure is, essentially, a repeat of the 1st measure, without the dotted half/sixteenth note tie (see attachment). I'm pulling what's left of my hair, out over this issue. What have I failed to understand?

The second measure is really a mess. I'm curious to know how you manage to do this.
To solve it, select the measure and press Del.
Then select first measure, Ctrl + C, select the rest in measure 2, press Ctrl + V
Select the tie, and press del

I tried what I thought was 'everything' to place the notes where they're needed, so I'm not certain what combination of entries resulted in the second measure "mess". I think what I did was that I entered the 16th note figure, saw that it was not correctly placed, and then selected the last rest and tried to drag it to a point before the 16th note figure.

I tried your suggestion - worked like a charm! Thanks!
