fermata plays a looooooong time in 3.0-dev
I have a score I create a while ago under 2.x, it payed fine. I opened it today with yesterdays nightly build, and the fermatas which should be played for about a half second are playing for minutes. The first one in measure 33 plays for about 30 seconds and then the music continues, but the one in measure 73 never finishes. We'll I waited about a minute, so I don't know whether it was in an infinite loop or just waiting a long time. When I pressed ESC it exited playback mode. I clicked on the next note in measure 73, and pressed play to finish listening to the playback.
I'm attaching the score.

It seems they have been customized (?)
On 676b0a3 I pressed reset to default (On Windows)

In 2.0 I did change the Time stretch to extend the sustain the amount which I wanted it played back. Otherwise, the fermata seemed to be ignored completely for playback.
Can you attach the 2.0 file?

Who is "you" and the 2.0 file of what? The attached file was created in 2.07 according to the header of the .mscx file.

That was a nightly build then. There is no compatibility between former nightlies and new nightlies.

So do we understand why the fermatas play so bizarrely?

What I mean is that we don't care about bugs between two nightlies. If you can reproduce the bug from scratch, with a small file create in MuseScore 2 stable and opened in MuseScore 3. Then it's worth a bug report. But a large file, made with an old nightly is not useful.
I filled a proper bug report here: #137246: MuseScore 2 score with a custom fermata plays incorrect in master
Nightly builds are for trying out concepts, changes and "fixes". They don't always work out well. Anything created in a Nightly build has about a 50/50 chance of working in the next stable build. Your fermata in Bar 73, for instance, shows as having a duration of 8 - when I play it in MS Version 2.0.3 but the definition or interpretation of duration of 8 varied in the Nightly builds.
