How do I enter text into the frame shown on the right?
I created side by side frames, but I can't figure out how to select the right hand frames (highlighted in yellow) to enter text into it.

Attach the score, wouldn't it be easier to use Ctrl+T?
It looks like you have "nested" frames.

Score is attached. I inserted a vertical frame to control the distance between the components above/below. Then I inserted horizontal frames within that... but it seems I can only select the left most frame.

Better Ctrl+T
Also see https://musescore.org/en/node/286258. There is no need for additional frames to be able to create text in columns.
