Why are ~20% of my lead vocal note heads red?
I have a typical lead sheet with piano accompaniment. All note heads on the 3 pages are the expected black - except for about 20% of the lead part - which are red.
Presumably this indicates something, but I've searched the handbook and can find no reference to colored note heads anywhere; especially, how to correct. BTW - everything prints black; it's just red on the screen.
Attached is a snapshot.
Thanks for your help with this,
Rich

Look at this part of the handbook and scroll down to see "Usable pitch range". https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/staff-part-properties#common-staff-… and here https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/staff-part-properties#common-staff-…
The red colour means the notes are outside the normally achievable range for the instrument you are using. You can:
a) change the instrument to one that has a pitch range that includes the notes you are using.
b) change the pitch range in the stave properties.
c) ignore it. The notes will be black in the printed version
d) turn off colouring out of range notes in preferences.

Thank you, Steve! I wonder why that didn't come up when I searched. Oh well, you ROCK!!!

The handbook search facility is not the most helpful I have come across. It pays to do a quick skim of the handbook. top to bottom, just to be aware of what it contains. If you know something is in there it gives you more incentive to persevere when looking for it
