a chord consisting of different values

• Jun 30, 2021 - 20:50

Dear Musescore friends,

Who can tell me how I can write a chord consisting of different values.
E.g. the bottom two notes of the chord are made up of half notes and the top notes of this chord are made up of two fourths. I've already tried dividing the chord into a 1st voice for the quarter notes and a second voice for the lower half notes. The next two chords in this measure consist of quarter notes. The problem with this, however, is that a quarter rests are also placed under these two fourth chords. These are the rests of the second voice. Musescore automatically completes these quarters. These rests make the musical notation very messy. Is there a way to notate a chord with different note values?
Thanks for your comment.
Ms. Jack

You have to use voices if you have simultaneous different rhythms in one part. That is the way music is notated. You can switch the note stems (keyboard shortcut X) to get a quarter and half note to share a stem. Rests in unoccupied voices can be made invisible (keyboard shortcut V).
