MIDI input
Hi. I have an Komplete Kontrol S49 mini controller and a Scarlett 18i8 device. Everything works fine with my DAW and with Kontakt, but the I/O window in MuseScore shows no devices at all - nothing in the dropdown. I connected midi cables from the KB to Scarlett, I checked PortAudio, but nothing at all. This isn't a critical issue, but I do have a lot in input to do and using a midi controller would be a great help.

Have you followed the first 2 steps in that order?
If you are using DIN (5 pin) connectors double check the connections (i.e., out to in).
Are you interfacing to a computer via USB?

Thank you for your response. Yes, I double checked the midi connections from the midi controller to Scarlett (in to out etc ). I disconnected the controller's USB connection. (Is it possible to do this with USB rather than MIDI - once I get this resolved, I mean). When I turn the controller on and press some keys, Scarlett displays a green light that indicates it's receiving midi. Then I run MuseScore, but there's no change. Nothing in the drop downs. My audio system is ASIO. Do I need to change that to WASAPI or MME? I'm not sure how to do that. The instructions I've found on the web don't match up with my version of Win10Pro. Thank you.

What sort of input do you have to do?
Are you simply notating music?
If so, can you directly hook the MIDI keyboard via USB and then enter notes into MuseScore directly, and not through the Scarlett audio interface?
(You may need a USB driver for Windows.)
For WASAPI or MME changes, go to menu item: Edit -> Preferences... and look in the I/O tab

Updating and resetting preferences to default fixed the issue. I should have done that first - sorry for taking up your time, and thank you.
