Control of regroup rhythm across beats?
Hi,
I have the following measure
which the Regroup Rhythm tool turns into
It seems as if the original measure would be more readable due to the break in the bar across the quarter note beat. (If this is not a fair assessment, I would love that feedback. I am only a hobbiest and am just basing this opinion on my personal experience reading sheet music.)
Are there settings that allow one to tune the way Regroup Rhythm works (so that, in this case, it would not modify the original measure)?
Thanks,
Jordan

There is some control available in the time signature properties. If your time signature is 4/4 and not "cut common" which is actually just a visually modified version of 2/2, I think that you should get the grouping you are looking for. I'm not at my PC just now, so I can't check but discussion here https://musescore.org/en/node/328540 seems to point that way.

Back at my PC and just tested that. No, it seems regroup rhythms is not very clever. And that behaviour is particularly unhelpful as it is quite a job to convert back to the tied version. The problem has been reported before #300523: "Regroup Rhythms" function not grouping correctly for syncopated notes across downbeats. Let's hope a fix can be found.
